Eager Helldivers 2 players have been desperately trying to figure out why they cannot play Helldivers 2. Currently, due to server errors, players worldwide have been stopped in their tracks by issues connecting to the server. The Helldivers 2 developers have stated that they are currently performing emergency maintenance.
At the time of writing, it is estimated that this emergency maintenance will take roughly another hour. However, it is a common occurrence that this type of maintenance is often further extended, so there are no guarantees of a confirmed end time.
The decision to take Helldivers 2 down for maintenance was elaborated on by a developer in a Reddit post. However, because the game has had recurring issues regarding players’ ability to log in, with many experiencing the dreaded “failed to connect to server” issue, and a failure to correctly allocate rewards post-mission.
“A little update regarding our server related issues. The current biggest issues are the game not dishing out rewards properly at the end of missions accompanied with the reoccurring login failures.
This is very important for us to fix as soon as possible and as such, we’ve decided to perform server maintenance in about 2 hours (7pm CET / 10am PST / 3am JST).
As always when making changes in a live environment, we need to address this with caution and monitor the situation closely.”

The overall support from the community has been overwhelmingly positive despite the game’s rocky launch. Many praise the game for its fun gameplay despite the issues it has been plagued by. However, many are curious whether they will be retroactively compensated for the rewards missed due to server-side errors. So far, there has yet to be a comment on this issue, but hopefully, it will be addressed soon.
