Great… Warzone 2’s COD: DMZ is Pay-To-Win Now

May the best buyer win!

Well, it didn’t take long for Activision to push its limits with the Call of Duty: DMZ mode, and should we be surprised? After the release of BlackCell in Warzone 2 Season 3, some fresh pay-to-win elements have been added to the in-game store so players can purchase some extra power.

The game hasn’t yet reached mobile game levels or microtransactions, but we’re quickly speeding in that direction, if not worse. So far, there is only one bundle that players can purchase for the COD DMZ mode that features gameplay items. However, leaks aren’t looking great and we’ll discuss it all here.

Call of Duty: DMZ Will Have Purchasable Killstreaks and Gear

When Season 3 launched, the first bundle for the extraction mode we saw was called “Bomb Squad” and it features cosmetics just like any other. The difference is that players will receive a fourth Active Duty Operator slot, a permanent 15-minute cooldown on Insured Weapons, and a medium backpack on the operator by default.

These items aren’t just one-time use either. Anytime a player dies, if they purchase the bundle for 1200 COD Points, they will spawn with a medium backpack, which gives them instant access to carry more weapons on the map. This is just the beginning according to leaks, though.

In the near future, there are supposedly bundles that will feature items like a UAV killstreak. Just like the backpack, when a player spawns, they will have a UAV. They can then use the item and see everyone’s location. In the COD DMZ, UAV is even harder to counter, and it’s a massive advantage. We’ll see if players decide the pay-to-win additions are worth the outcomes as new bundles come out.
