Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal’s multiplayer action RPG featuring the “Bat Family,” is now a current-generation exclusive. This press release was primarily about a new gameplay trailer for Gotham Knights featuring Nightwing and Red Hood, Batman’s first sidekick and the only somewhat evil pseudozombie version of his second sidekick. The note about the last-gen versions no longer coming was kind of dropped in the middle. Here’s the quote:

“Gotham Knights is scheduled to launch worldwide on Oct. 25, 2022. Please note, to provide players with the best possible gameplay experience, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and will not be available for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles.”

The gameplay trailer shows large chunks of Gotham Knight’s structure and combat. We see Nightwing’s more acrobatic combat juxtaposed with Red Hood’s more brutal and supernatural abilities. We see “Crimes,” which are missions described as “play[ing] as a mini game mode.” The trailer also shows the Belfry, the home base for the heroes. Here you can do things like change your character’s gear, which comes with both cosmetic and statistical changes.
