It seems a lot of arcade classics are coming back in high-definition format, or with retweaked rules that make them more addictive than ever. Just look at Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, Galaga Legions and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition if you don’t believe me.
Now add another fun factor to the mix – the crazily hopping Frogger. Konami has announced, through the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, that its revival of the 80’s favorite, dubbed Frogger; Hyper Arcade Edition, will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare next week. The game will feature traditional and all new game modes, as well as a high-definition visual makeover that makes the game more exciting than those previous family-oriented affairs that have come out.
Plus, it’ll feature some interesting character sprites from earlier Konami games, including Contra and Castlevania. Does that mean Simon Belmont will lend a hand in getting the frogs back home? Ehhhh…don’t count on it.
Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition is set to sell for $9.99, or 800 Microsoft points, upon release.
