Fortnite’s mysterious purple cube has been the main focus of fan theories as Season 5 comes to a close. After weeks of speculation over where the cube was headed and how it might affect the map, today Fortnite fans got their answer.
Today, thousands of players worldwide watched as the mysterious purple cube made its final ‘step’ off the dock into Loot Lake. The cube slowly melted over the surface of the lake, turning the water a matching hue of purple. You can see the cube dissolve for yourself via Ninja’s Twitch clip below.
That’s not all, though. Once the cube was fully melted, the surface of Loot Lake transformed, taking on the bouncy properties of the cube and becoming a massive bounce pad. It should be much easier to traverse across the lake now, assuming the surface stays bouncy for a while. The bouncy surface also appears to absorb and prevent fall damage, so expect some hectic building battles to take place here in the near future.
It’s hard to tell whether this is the last we’ll see of the mysterious cube before the start of Season 6. Perhaps the cube (or something else) will rise again to transform another section of the map. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date either way, so check back here for details.
In the meantime, make sure to finish up your Battle Pass before the season ends by completing any last-minute Season 5 challenges, such as visiting all the stone head statues in Fortnite.
