Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster Release Date Confirmed

It's finally here; the one people will complain about the most!

Today, Square Enix confirmed the release date for Final Fantasy VI, the final game in the Pixel Remaster series. This classic RPG, one of the top contenders for best of the series, will land on Steam and mobile platforms on February 23, 2022.

Much like the other games in the set, Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster includes a totally new visual style, led by series veteran Kazuko Shibuya. Original composer Nobuo Uematsu “oversaw” new soundtrack arrangements, which have often been pointed to as the highlight of this release. As seen in new screenshots released today, the infamous font still seems to be in place. Luckily, it’s easy to change:

Folks who preorder the game (or already have) will also get the same bonuses as the previous titles. That includes some wallpapers, a 20% discount and a mini soundtrack sampler. The songs included are as follows:

  • The Decisive Battle (Timelapse Remix)
  • Terra’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
  • Searching for Friends (Timelapse Remix)
  • Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
  • Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental)

The whole set is purchasable for a larger discount as well. Additionally, each individual game is also on sale on both platforms, from now until February 22.
