For a spin-off, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has done remarkably well on the digital front.  Ubisoft announced that the first-person shooter, a futuristic tale with 80s inspiration, sold over 500,000 units across a number of platforms, including Steam/PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Speaking with Gamesindustry.biz, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated he was very happy with the success of the game.  He also noted that the release of Blood Dragon increased sales of Far Cry 3, especially on PC.

Guillemot had praise for the company’s other recent first-person shooter, the Techland-produced Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, though sales weren’t specifically mentioned for that game.

Here’s hoping we see sequels to both games down the road, especially Blood Dragon. Maybe Ubisoft can bring in someone to lend Michael Biehn a hand.  Is Dolph Lundgren available?

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger are available now for PC/Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
