Peach’s resume of acting roles continues to grow in the latest gameplay trailer for Princess Peach: Showtime! released on February 14. Four new transformations are revealed in this latest video, bringing the current total number of transformations up to ten.
The video quickly starts off with the reveal of Figure Skater Peach. The shown footage emphasizes platforming in a 3D space and twirling an enemy around to defeat them.
The second new transformation shown is Dashing Thief Peach, a stylish Arsène Lupin or Carmen Sandiego-styled villain-esque character. Thus far we see Dashing Thief Peach engaging in some 2D platforming, but we can’t help but hope that we can access her computers shown in the beginning to get up to more mischief in a sort of reversal of the Detective Peach role.
The next new transformation revealed is Mermaid Peach. The footage emphasizes her singing abilities, which seem to have a lot of versatility. First, she can sing to control fish to navigate areas that are inaccessible to her. The second ability is a bit less clear: she may be singing to put up a shield to block the incoming fish shaped like music notes, or it may be part of a timed music minigame.
A tokusatsu-inspired Mighty Peach is the last new transformation shown. The trailer emphasizes her focus on fighting enemies as well as an aerial platforming section.
With a current total of ten transformations, it’s uncertain whether even more will be revealed before Princess Peach: Showtime!’s release on Nintendo Switch on March 22. Even if there are additional transformations for Peach, it may be beneficial to keep them under wraps for players to discover for themselves as they play. Without knowing the scale of each of the transformations’ levels, however, it’s impossible to know what to expect in terms of announcements in the month before the game’s quickly upcoming release.
