Fans first got their look at Dying Light 2 when famed writer Chris Avellone took center stage during the E3 2018 Xbox Showcase last year. The upcoming sequel looks bigger and better than ever before, taking the zombie franchise to new heights. With a bigger world to explore, more story to navigate, and new combat to engage in, the world of Dying Light 2 seems to have a lot to offer. “Several games worth,” in fact, at least according to one Techland dev.
“It’s almost like we are creating several games worth of content right now,” said Techland producer Kornel Jaskula in a recent interview with GamesRadar. “We are designing the game with the foundation that some of the players will miss content and we are okay with that.”
“Thanks to the variety of stories, missions, content and assets, we believe that it will make players want to play the game again and again or try to play with other players in co-op to see their worlds,” Jaskula added. “That’s something that we established as a foundation at the very beginning [of development], it’s one of our design goals, and it’s something that we still keep in mind.”
From what we’ve learned previously about the upcoming game is that it will be a “thread” that ties the world together, diving much more into world-building than its predecessor. Avellone himself has mentioned in the past that it will heavily rely on the “power of choice,” making fans eager to see exactly what the sequel will have to offer.
While we don’t have a release date at this time, we will be learning more about Dying Light 2 during Microsoft’s showcase during E3 2019 next month.
