Drive Club was set to rev gamers into overdrive with the PlayStation 4 launch next month, and, as you could see from our recent First Look at the game, there was plenty to be excited about. Unfortunately, it looks like Sony has brought it into the garage for a tune-up.
Sony and Evolution Studios announced today that Drive Club would no longer be part of the launch line-up, instead coming out in spring 2014. As for the reason why, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida stated that “the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision – and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.”
Meanwhile, that leaves a few gamers concerned, as Drive Club was set to be a freebie in the PlayStation Plus program at launch. Not to worry. Compulsion Games’ dazzling adventure Contrast will fill the void, free of charge to subscribers in the PlayStation Plus program.
Drive Club joins Infamous: Second Son, The Order 1886, Destiny and Watch Dogs for 2014 releases – and that’s a lot to look forward to.
