During the opening showcase of this year’s online gamescom event, appropriately titled Opening Night Live, BioWare presented a video package giving hungry Dragon Age fans a peek behind the scenes of what’s next for the series. We already knew something was on the way due to a previous teaser, but in this video package we’re treated to some in-game assets, voice acting clips, creature art and more.
Behind the Scenes First Look at the Next Dragon Age
What we’re seeing in this video package is a more low key version of what the company showed off a few years ago leading up to the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. The kinds of games BioWare makes are huge, and the road to things like release dates or titles is long. But the team wanted to show off some snippets of the work done so far, and there’s quite a bit of information! Check out the video package for yourself here:
It’s always a good thing when we get little peeks behind the curtain at how the video game sausage is made. If you aren’t involved with any kind of creative work or software development, even seeing some of the tools in action almost looks like alien technology. But there’s also some very early footage of what the team is cooking up in terms of gameplay, as well as updated character designs for returning faces such as the infamous Dread Wolf, Solas.

A number of years have passed since the last Dragon Age game was released, all the way back in 2014. But it was a bit hit, landing to critical and commercial success and several Game of the Year awards. It looks like this will be a direct sequel of some sort to Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is actually a new thing for the series.
