A while back, a mysterious trademark for a new Deus Ex popped up with the name “The Fall”. Speculation ran wild on the possibilities of a sequel to the stellar 2011 release Human Revolution, but today we’ve learned exactly what it is – a mobile tie-in that tells more of its story from a different perspective.
Deus Ex: The Fall is a mobile series that will be released through downloadable chapters, with the first coming this summer for $6.99. It takes place in the same time as Human Revolution – the year 2027 – but puts you in the shoes of a new hero named Ben Saxon, a former British SAS Mercenary who went through a great deal of physical augmentation. He’s trying to figure out what happened while at the same time resolving a drug conspiracy with a large corporation.
“We’re really excited to continue the Deus Ex series on mobile and start a new journey” said Eidos executive game director Jean-François Dugas. “The team has done an incredible job creating a whole new story and controls for intuitive touch screen gameplay, whilst staying true to the Deus Ex universe. Players can expect exploration, action, hacking, stealth, social enhancers, player choice and consequence — the full Deus Ex experience.”
We should get a better look at The Fall next week at E3. Be sure to check back for first impressions. In the meantime, here’s the trailer.
