An In-Depth Look At Battlefield Portal Ahead Of Launch

Today, EA put out a blog post that goes into more details about what players can expect from battlefield Portal at launch.

Battlefield Portal is all about taking each map as a starting point and further editing and refining the experience to something unique. The blog goes on to say

“You can make simple edits to weapon loadouts, tag in more maps to the rotation, or you can start to tweak things as finely detailed as bullet velocity, health regen rates, and if a player takes more damage when they’re hit in the head, or to the torso.”

The toolset can be accessed in the game client or simply by logging into your EA account on the website. From here you can play around with the different options at your disposal. Battlefield portal also has pre-made experiences that stand on their own or can be further customized to your liking.

You’ll be able to choose from game modes like Conquest Large, Conquest, Rush, Free-For-All, and Team Deathmatch as the basis for your new custom game modes.

Depending on the game mode chosen you’ll have access to the 64 or 128 player maps, alongside a bunch of different map layouts.

“Before you get into applying your modifiers, the Core section of the Builder invites you to change the fundamental rules of your game mode. If you have your mode set on the Conquest ruleset, you can make adjustments to the maximum number of human players you want in your experience and simultaneously determine if you want that to be an asymmetrical experience or not. If you choose to keep that number below 128, you can later decide if you want to add in Bots to your mode up to the overall player limit.”

Of course, you can also change things like projectile speed, global damage, headshot damage, body shot damage, and more once you get into the thick of tailoring an experience you want.

Then you can further refine your experience by changing fundamental options about each player and toggle off things like traversal sprint, ADS, and health regeneration. Battlefield portal seems like it’s giving players a wide variety of customization to make things truly unique.

But like most content creation hubs, it really depends on what the community comes up with and how fast Dice can address feedback and work with the community for requested features.

We’re curious to see how Battlefield Portal pans out and ultimately what fans come up with for new and interesting custom game modes.
