When Masachika Kawata, who’s currently working on Resident Evil: Raccoon City, spoke to Spanish website MarcaPlayer (thanks for the translation Rely On Horror) he explained that RE 6 will vary massively from RE5.

“The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level,” he promised. “But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise.

“I can’t say if we’re going to make it survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally new.”

Resident Evil 5 came out on 360, PS3 and PC in 2009, if you’d like to know a whole lot more, or even just a little, head over to our RE5 game hub.

There has been nothing said so far on when Resident Evil 6 might happen, or on what platforms it will appear, but there are a lot more games within the franchise on the way.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations are coming to the Nintendo 3DS, and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is upcoming on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

And finally…HD versions of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica will be arriving on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade at some point later in the year.
