If there’s one thing Borderlands is known for, it’s its impressive variety of weaponry that players can loot. With Borderlands 3 boasting its new GUNS WITH LEGS and the 4K update having recently went live for Borderlands 2, there are a lot of eyes on Pandora as of late. Now those eyes have found something new hidden away in Borderlands 2 as dataminers uncover new rainbow rarity items within the looter shooter.

Dataminer Captain Koby, who made a name for himself with his Borderlands 2 Reborn mod, discovered the new rarity and put it to work on some of their modded wepaons. The rainbow rarity itself looks different from the usual aesthetic, instead it offers a much more animated and dynamic look to the weapon’s casing:

It’s important to note for those looking to get this particular rarity item for themselves that the most recent patch is imperative in order for this to show up in-game. Still, it’s gorgeous, and definitely gives a more “space-y” look to weapons with its chromatic feel.

Koby mentioned that he’s not quite sure what to make of the new rarity uncovered. The possibility that it was added by mistake is always there, which means the potential for it to be removed is also present. That being said, the fact that it was found means good things for those players that love the variation that the Borderlands franchise has to offer. With Borderlands 3 boasting more weapons than ever before, we know that the rainbow rarity is only the start for what players can find through their Vault Hunter adventures.

For those looking to revist their favorites once more, Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
