Diablo 3 players who cheat or hack will soon risk permanent bans from Blizzard.

News comes from Battle.net, where Blizzard said that anyone found cheating, using bots, hacks or modifications “in any form” may face a permanent ban.

A permanent ban will result in an inability to log in to Battle.net, which, as we know too well, will prevent you from playing the game itself.

“Playing Diablo 3 legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client,” came Blizzard’s firm statement. “Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net and Diablo 3, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on.

“We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, bots, or exploits. Suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future.”

Tightening of the security comes as the launch of the Real Money Auction House, including the need to use the official authenticator to add Balance to your Battle.net account.
