This morning Bethesda announced that its upcoming games, Starfield and Redfall, will no longer hit their 2022 release dates. This comes from a boost on the official Bethesda Twitter account.
Bethesda Rockets Starfield & Redfall Into 2023
“We made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield into the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them,” they wrote.
This isn’t entirely surprising, considering we’ve only seen very brief looks at both of these games. In fact, we haven’t even seen in-game footage of Redfall at all. Just that CG reveal trailer that was shown at last year’s Xbox Showcase. Initially, with a release date of “Summer 2022,” that’s all the information we had been working with.
Starfield, on the other hand, put a hard release date on the game at that same showcase last year. Working with a November 11, 2022 date, it seemed unlikely to be delayed. While we haven’t seen a ton, we at least have seen in-game footage and some developer videos. Bethesda Game Studios has a solid track record of hitting its dates.
Both titles are now in the “first half of 2023” release window, which could mean anything from January to June.
Bethesda does mention at the end of its statement, “We can’t wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. Which could mean we will see both of these titles at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase set for June 12.
Hopefully, fans don’t have to wait too long for these games, but it could be a quiet fall season without Starfield. Maybe Xbox and Bethesda have a surprise or two waiting to be released this year.
