It looks like the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed movie is on the fast track for development.  Not only does it have star Michael Fassbender (Shame, X-Men First Class, Prometheus) attached, but it also looks to be moving rather quickly in terms of release.

According to GamesIndustry International, Ubisoft chief sales and marketing officer Geoffroy Sardin has stated that the movie is set to arrive for “the next coming year.”

Now, that term is a little vague, as no specific date was mentioned, but it sounds like it could see a release in the late 2013/early 2014 time window, depending on when it gets wrapped up.  The developer did just partner with New Regency to get the film developed, but there’s still no word on a writer or director as of yet.  We’ll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, you don’t have to wait to check out Assassin’s Creed III, now in stores.  All sorts of awesome.
