In a surprise announcement Studio Wildcard has revealed a partnership with War Drum Studios to bring their hit survival game, Ark: Survival Evolved to mobile devices. Developed by War Drum Studios—the studio responsible for mobile ports of games like Bully, Grand Theft Auto, and Auralax—Ark: Survival Evolved on mobile will work as an on-the-go version of the base game available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
Ark: Survival Evolved will be available on mobile platforms as a free-to-play title. Featuring over 80+ dinosaurs to tame and hunt down, the mobile version of the game will include all of the important features available in the original version of the game—including tribes, crafting, building, and a massive island for players to explore.
The closed beta for the iOS version of the game is now available on the Ark: Survival Evolved website, however, players will need to sign up for a chance to get into the beta. Keep in mind that this is a closed event, which means it may take a while for you to receive an invite to check out the game. Either way, though, Ark: Survival Evolved joins the ever-growing list of games making their way over to mobile.
A full worldwide launch of the game is expected to come sometime this spring for iOS and Android alike. Make sure to head over to the official Ark: Survival Evolved website to sign up and follow the mobile game’s development as well as put your name in the hat to take part in the closed beta on iOS. You can check out the trailer for the mobile version of the game above.
It will be interesting to see how Ark: Survival Evolved makes the transition to mobile, and how the game continues to evolve as a whole. War Drum Studios has made quite a name for themselves as a mobile developer, and we can’t wait to see how Ark looks on our mobile phones.
