Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge made an appearance at gamescom 2021, with a pretty radical reveal. April O’Neil, reporter and regular kidnapping victim, is part of this game’s playable roster.
Decked out in her yellow jumpsuit from the 1980s cartoon show, April has a varied moveset distinguishing her from the Turtles. Also, the expected release window for the game has been bumped to 2022.
April O’Neil Divekicks TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge to 2022
You can check out April in action in the new trailer below, which also modifies the title/key art!
April O’Neil is quite the bruiser, using moves like a divekick and Chun-Li’s Tenshokyaku along with leveraging equipment such as a microphone and studio camera to fight. She also uses the iconic Hip Attack pro wrestling move, better known as the Flying Peach or Peach Bomber depending on your videogame of choice.
Unfortunately, there’s some bad news as well. Originally aimed for this year but never given a final date, Shredder’s Revenge is now set to come out in 2022. Gotta take the good with the bad. That said, I wonder if more playable characters are on the way. Plenty of space around that title art now that we know it’s expendable!
