This comes from the mouth of Frank O’Connor, ex-Bungie employee, who’s now gone over to Microsoft’s Halo department, 343 Industries and recently spoke at Comic-Con (cheers Kotaku).

“It’s going to evolve in features and functionality to make it the prime destination for the Halo fan,” O’Connor explained. It will track Achievements, gameplay progress and other such information.

It was briefly mentioned that Microsoft aren’t yet sure whether they’ll be letting everyone have their way with the Waypoint:

“Certainly, if you’re a Gold member you’re going to get access to all of that experience,” O’Connor stated.

“We want everyone to have this same experience, but the question is, if there’s multiplayer features that are technically connected to Gold, it’s easier to deal with. There’s a lot of reasons that Gold makes sense.”

Halo’s upcoming anime shorts are coming to will also be viewable through Halo Waypoint.
