Get ready, Critters, because even more Critical Role is on the way thanks to a two-season deal with Amazon Prime. The hit tabletop RPG podcast is going to all new heights with the animated series coming soon called Critical Role: The Legend of Vox Machina. Each season will be 12-episodes each, with The Venture Bros’ Titmouse at the animation helm.
The team behind Critical Role first proposed an animated series over on Kickstarter for one animated episode and it smashed through its stretch goal within minutes. Since the campaign raised almost $11.5 million dollars, it’s easy to see why Amazon was quick to scoop up an exclusive deal with the Critters themselves.
“Our friends at Amazon have partnered with us to broadcast Critical Role: The Legend of Vox Machina exclusively on Amazon Prime Video,” read the team’s latest Kickstarter update. “And that’s not all… This partnership has allowed us to create TWO ENTIRE SEASONS and an additional TWO episodes per season. That’s a total of 24 episodes of animated Vox Machina goodness that we cannot wait to share with you.
“What’s more, Amazon is throwing their support behind the show, allowing us to improve on the quality of the animation, the score, the special effects – you name it. And with 24 episodes to play with, instead of just 10, we’ll not only complete the entire Briarwood storyline in the animated series, but we’ll forge ahead into other classic Vox Machina storyarcs as well!”
As for the show itself, our favorite Critters will be front and center with Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Sam Riegal, and Travis Willingham reprising their beloved characters once more. For those that loved the Metalocalypse show, Chris Prynoski will be attached to the show as an executive producer alongside the cast and Star Wars: Resistance’s Brandon Auman.
We’re excited to see how it all shapes up when the Critical Role animated series arrives on Amazon sometime in 2020.
