That’s right, the man himself, Henry Cavill, is doing a reading for fans before his take on Geralt of Rivia goes live later this month. With The Witcher Netflix series coming soon, a lot of Geralt fans are only familiar with the games that adapted the books, completely unaware that Cavill’s narrative centers around a younger hero. To get gaming-only fans aquainted with what lies ahead, the actor is taking it upon himself to provide a little education, and it’s perfect.

For those that are limited on time, no worries: the video isn’t very long at all, instead just a small excerpt to tease fans about what’s to come before the show debuts on December 20th. With a tagline of “The Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts,” it’s hard not to be totally amped for the upcoming 8-episode long series!

The upcoming show stars Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill as the main protagonist himself, alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold. The author of the books himself is also on board with the project, working as the creative consultant for Hissrich’s vision.

The Witcher Netflix series officially debuts on December 20th!
