What We’re Playing: Weekend Edition – The Sixth Sense

From the seas to the skies, this week is full of surprises.

It’s already time for this once again? Time just doesn’t wait for anyone, I guess. As new releases continue flooding the gaming world, we’re once again jumping into new favorites, alongside old comfort games that will give us that boost we need to keep on truckin’ until the work week starts up once again. Without any further ado, let’s see what kind of shenanigans the Prima Teama are getting into this week as we find out what we’re playing this weekend.

This weekend I’m buckling down and getting through a “fairy” good farming sim. As a fan of the genre, it’s been incredibly fun to have the opportunity to dive deep into multiple. I can’t say anything about this one yet, but you’ll be hearing my thoughts soon!

Otherwise, I might log into RuneScape for a bit because I’ve been sucked into the whole FOMO feeling regarding getting Necromancy XP before they nerf it. I should have played it more before the best XP method was taken away!

I’m currently in the early hours of my Sea of Stars playthrough! First time playing something JRPG-esque so this is unfamiliar territory for me, but I’m not minding it! Love the added blocking and upgraded attacks that make combat less like I’m watching a fight and more like I have a say in things.

Other than that, finished up my playthrough of Starfield a few days ago and I’m hoping to clean up some side stuff and possibly start working on New Game+. It seems to be a lot more interesting than your usual NG+, but I’ll leave it at that so as to not spoil things.

Unsurprisingly, I’ll be one of the many writers here who plans to explore space in Starfield’s early access launch. I’ve been looking forward to it for months, and I’m so happy to finally get the chance to jump in and appreciate what it has to offer. By the time this is posted, I’ll probably already have over a dozen hours in the game, as I suspect I’ll be playing it nonstop for the next couple of weeks. It’ll be hard for it to compete with my love for Oblivion and Skyrim, but here’s to hoping it trumps them both!

Shaun Cichacki – Starfield/Fishing Planet

We’re on opposite sides of the spectrum this week. Jumping into the roaring space epic that lies before me, I’m cautiously optimistic about jumping into Starfield. While I’m not very far into the game yet, I’ve been enjoying my time in this world much more than I did in Skyrim already. As a die-hard Oblivion stan, I’m hoping this title can eventually scratch the itch and help me reach the high I felt back when I first got my Xbox 360.

On the other side of things, I’ll be spending some time relaxing and catching some monster Trophy fish in Fishing Planet. It’s been a while since I’ve played this one (Steam says 2015?), but the urge to cast a few lines has been driving me up a wall lately, so I guess it’s time to return to the simpler things in life.

Meg Bethany Koepp – Pokemon Crystal/Starfield

Hmm, I wonder what everyone will be playing this weekend… Definitely not Starfield. Why would it be? I definitely won’t be playing it, nope, not me!

Outside of playing a certain space RPG, I’ve been really into Pokémon Crystal lately so I’ll be plowing through that. I recently got a Miyoo Mini Plus and I LOVE it. It’s been my go-to for winding down before bed.

Dan Wenerowicz – Starfield/Call of Duty: MW2

Starfield will become my life for half the weekend. Bethesda games are some of my favorites, despite their flaws, and this is another one I already know I want to sink countless hours into. When I’m not rotting on Starfield I’ll eventually be pulled into some Search and Destroy matches in MW2 with friends who don’t waste time in space.

Nikola Jovanovic – Armored Core VI/Yakuza 3 Remastered

Although I’m not a big fan of their Souls games, I love classic FromSoft titles from the prehistoric ages. Remember Otogy and Murakumo? Anyone? Anyhow, So far, I’m liking the new Armored Core more than I expected, and I can’t wait to play it even more over the weekend.

Also, this weekend I’m playing and finishing Yakuza 3 from the HD Remaster Collection in my crazy self-assigned side-quest to finish all the Yakuza games before Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name comes out this November! So far so good, only Yakuza 4, 5, and 6 left… totally realistic that I will be able to finish them in a few months… Like, there is no way, but at least I’m having a great time playing it in bits whenever I have time.

Eric Eduardo Weichart – Pikmin 4, Mario & Rabbids: Sparks of Hope DLC 3, Starfield

I have returned to Pikmin 4 to try my best to beat the game 100% in the least amount of days, which so far is two days per map. Why is this game so addictive, and why I can’t handle having a dead counter above zero? I’m also playing the Rayman DLC for Mario Rabbids, which is sadly the last Mario RPG content I will play until Super Mario RPG.

Lastly, I’m playing a game that nobody heard about: Starfield. For being one of the biggest games of the year, I’m kind of surprised that I’m not having fun with it, which makes me feel old. I’m almost reaching my 30s, so maybe I am.

Grant Testa – Starfield/Armored Core VI

This weekend I’ll be focusing on two of the latest sci-fi releases with Starfield and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. As a big fan of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, Starfield has been an RPG I’ve been eagerly looking forward to all year long. Personally, I feel that Starfield had many unwarranted controversies on social media leading up to its launch, so I’m just happy to experience the game for myself, and make up my own mind about one of the year’s most highly anticipated titles.

Secondly, if I can find the time, I would also like to continue my second playthrough of Armored Core 6. I was absolutely blown away by FromSoftware’s latest masterpiece, which easily rates among my favorite games of this generation.

Patrick Souza – Starfield/Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

You guessed it, it’s Starfield season for me as well! It’s been a good while since I’ve enjoyed a good Bethesda game, and exploring the space has been great so far. I’m still slowly working my way through the initial sidequests before actually progressing through the main story, but sidetracking is my undying passion, so this is literally heaven for me.

Speaking of sidetracks, I’ll probably hop on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the meantime since I somehow haven’t completed my Pokedex yet, and the DLC will be here in a few weeks! Version exclusives are already done, so I just need to work on a few extra evolutions and I’ll be good. Oh, there’s also the Mewtwo raid going on, and I’m definitely jumping on that!

Once again, we’ve got such a massive variety of games available that everyone is jumping into. This is always one of my favorite times of the week, so I can see what everyone else is going to be enjoying during their time off. Now, if you’ll excuse me, the lake is calling my name.
