Pokemon Go – Buddy System Update Details

A new buddy system is coming to Pokemon Go in the very near future, and we’ve got the first details.

There’s a new Buddy system update coming to Pokemon Go that will give you a few more options when it comes to the Pokemon in your collection. Information on the new system was first revealed through a data mine of the app. Following the leak, the development team at Niantic confirmed that a Buddy system was indeed on the way and would be coming very soon to Pokemon Go.

If you haven’t been keeping up, Niantic has promised regular updates to Pokemon Go, with trading and more coming before the end of the year. Sometime soon Pokemon Go players can expect the new Buddy Pokemon system to be released. This allows you to select one Pokemon from your collection to become your buddy.

Once a Buddy Pokemon has been selected, it appears next to your Trainer avatar on the profile screen. In addition, any walking done will not only hatch eggs, but it will also give you additional Candy rewards related to your Buddy Pokemon. If you need to evolve a certain Pokemon, select it as your Buddy Pokemon and walk around to earn more Candy and bring you close to an evolution. You can even change your selected Buddy Pokemon at any time.

There’s no word on exactly when the Buddy system will be released, but Niantic said it was just around the corner, so expect to see it very soon. The company also promised more updates throughout the Fall, which will likely include the trading option Niantic promised last month.
