We've had several notable leaks through the past months regarding the next step for the Far Cry universe, and it looks like Far Cry 3 villain Vaas is making a comeback.

“Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?” Vaas was an iconic villain in Far Cry 3, a character still referenced heavily today in pop culture. He played the baddie so well in no small part due to actor Michael Mando’s incredible voice acting. Mando recently took to Reddit for an AMA and it was there that he mentioned something that suspiciously looks like a confirmation of his return in Far Cry 6.

During the recent AMA on the popular forum platform, Mando responded to a fan that asked if Vaas still something the actor gets recognized for. The actor replied, “Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal – having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character – makes me very happy. Who knows… maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p Thank you for watching xo.”

Mando has been quite busy with Better Call Saul and Orphan Black but it seems like once Vaas, always Vaas, and we definitely wouldn’t say no to seeing this villain once more! While this obviously isn’t an official reveal or anything, the “very soon” addendum is what makes his response so noteworthy. It could also not have anything to do with Far Cry 6 at all, instead, he may be hinting at a role on the Far Cry TV show that was announced previously despite that project looking to be a spin-off of Blood Dragon.

There are a few possibilities here when looking at Vaas could possibly be revived. The first being the TV show, mentioned above. While a possibility, the premise reported doesn’t seem likely. The next possibility is in Far Cry 6, but with a few stipulations. Vaas’ character was killed during the events of Far Cry 3, meaning if he did play a role in the upcoming game it would either be as a flashback or if the game was set to be a sort of prequel or spin-off to those events.

A third possibility is that he wasn’t referencing either the TV show or Far Cry 6, instead possibly hinting at a Far Cry 3 remaster. The third entry was arguably the most well-received entry out of the entire franchise and this does seem to be the age of remasters. If looking to recapture the magic of Far Cry, especially with the mixed reception that the most recent spin-off received, a remaster would be a safe way to do just that.

That being said, Far Cry 5 took some really odd drug-related narrative turns with one particular trippy sequence that was much-talked-about. Maybe he’ll be a hallucination, a zombie, or some weird kind of spirit guide. I don’t know, spins the wheel, he could be whatever Ubisoft wants him to be. The possibilities are limitless but it is immensely fun to speculate on what his commentary could mean for the future of the character.
