This past weekend during the WWE Summerslam event in Los Angeles, 2K Sports and World Wrestling Entertainment announced the roster for its forthcoming game, WWE 2K15. While there are a lot of welcome faces making a return, as well as a few new ones, some of the best wrestlers are noticeably absent.
Sure, legends like Hulk Hogan and Stings are accounted for, as well as relative newcomers like Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt, but the list still comes up a bit short. That said, here’s a rundown of superstars we’d like to see in WWE 2K15.
The Ultimate Warrior
With the Warrior’s passing earlier this year, the wrestling world is still in shock. On that note, it’s only fitting that WWE find a way to include him in this year’s game to pay tribute. Also, keep in mind the Warrior played a huge part in WWE 2K14, including the advertisements, where he threw a few lackeys around the 2K Games office.
“Macho Man” Randy Savage
Another posthumous favorite we’d like to see added to the roster is the “Macho Man” himself, Randy Savage. Quite a showman in his prime, Randy was the ultimate wrestler when it came to versatility and cunning, and he’s an ideal choice to go up against the likes of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in the game. If WWE would consider re-adding him to the roster, we’d certainly bite into a Slim Jim and dig it.
The Iron Sheik
Before he became a sensation on Twitter with his no-holds-barred talk about everything Internet, The Iron Sheik was actually one of the premiere wrestlers in the WWE in the 80s, competing with the likes of Hulk Hogan and several others. Returning him to active duty in the video game would certainly be best for business, bubba.
The Vaudevillians
We already know that WWE 2K15 will include some sort of angle in Career Mode where you start out in the NXT and work your way up the roster. So how about including some of the best talent from NXT for good measure? Case in point, this tag team, which looks like they came out of the 1920s, but actually wrestle with the abilities of today’s top superstars. We’d certainly enjoy their addition, old chap.
Zack Ryder
Woo woo woo! Even though he’s not a major player in WWE anymore, Zack Ryder is still so much fun that he’d make a great addition to the roster. His Rough Ryder finisher is quite entertaining, and his style is quick, especially when it comes to counters and nailing someone in the corner with a kick. Plus, hey, that theme song, broski!
Jake “The Snake” Roberts
Jake Roberts made a fine return to the WWE world this year, both with a real appearance on Monday Night Raw and as a downloadable character for WWE 2K14. So it’s only fair that he and his python make a return to WWE 2K15, if only because we’ve always wanted to see what it was like to see Brock Lesnar eat a DDT. Oh, and get covered by a snake, of course.
“Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig
For a while there, the late Hennig was featured in WWE wrestling games, as part of a tribute for his inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame. We think he’d be a great addition to the game, if only because we could see how he would fare virtually against the likes of Dolph Ziggler or even Curtis Axel, who uses a variation of the “Perfect” theme when he wrestles. It’s time to put someone in a Perfect Plex!
Trish Stratus and Lita
The WWE 2K15 Diva division could always use some boosting, especially considering that only a few ladies are in there. How about a couple of legends for good measure? Trish Stratus is easily one of the best Divas champions the company has ever seen, and Lita, well, her over-the-top style and strength would make her an ideal match against A.J. Lee. Give the ladies some love, WWE.
JBL and Jerry “The King” Lawler
Two of the best wrestlers that became two of the best commentators for WWE programming would be a perfect fit for the roster. JBL is an excellent wrestler with a Clothesline From Hell that would level someone into the middle of next week, while the King is a fan favorite. To deny him entry is to shut out royalty. No one should do that.
Eddie Guerrero
Finally, we have to give the late Eddie Guerrero some respect. Over the years, he’s been one of the best additions to the WWE video games, with his high-flying style and charisma. His inclusion in WWE 2K15 would guarantee plenty of love from his fan base. Viva la rasa, indeed.
WWE 2K15 will release on October 28th for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
