What is Suppression in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

No, it doesn't make your weapons silent.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide doesn’t shy away from an endless stream of status effects. Whether it be Bleed stacks applied to enemies on hit, Soulblaze stacks doing the same thing but with cool effects, or Rending, which increases armor penetration, there’s a whole manner of status effects that can be applied to enemies. One status effect is rather confusing, mainly because it can be applied to you or your enemies. Here’s what Suppression is in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Suppression Explained in Darktide

Suppression is the status effect that occurs either when you shoot at your opponents or when they shoot at you. When being shot at, the Suppression debuff will cause your accuracy to be all over the place, to the point where you likely won’t be able to shoot properly. The only way to cleanse this debuff is to either wait it out or run into cover. You can also choose to charge at the enemy with your melee, as melee is unaffected by Suppression.

As for inflicting it on your opponents, shooting at your foes will apply the Suppression debuff and will cause them to quickly run for cover and try and shoot you from there instead. This can have one of two benefits for you: giving you a perfect opening to throw the finishing shot down range or allowing you to close distance for a much easier kill. Suppression can be applied by other means, though only if you have weapon Blessings that say so.

All of this makes Suppression both a great asset and a hindrance. For Ogryn players, you likely don’t have to worry about the accuracy penalty (provided you aren’t running the Heavy Stubber), but other classes will need to keep this in mind if you don’t want your plans to be completely spoiled.
