Will There Be Emotes in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

Who would perform such heretical actions as dancing?

Warhammer 40K: Darktide has more than enough ways to express yourself when heading out to slaughter heretics. You have stances for your end-screen rewards screen, various cosmetics to change your upper and lower body, and even trinkets to throw onto the ends of guns and show off your flair. One particular trend from gaming recently is surprisingly missing though, and some wonder if it will make an appearance. Here’s whether there will be emotes in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Will Fatshark Add Emotes to Darktide?

As of writing, Fatshark hasn’t stated anything on emotes in Darktide. They haven’t explicitly confirmed that they’re coming to the game or said they won’t be coming to the game at all. If they do arrive, you shouldn’t expect it to be your classic Fortnite emotes (sorry, Ogryn can’t hit the griddy, kids). Instead, we can look at Vermintide 2’s way of doing emotes.

In a fairly recent update for Vermintide 2, Fatshark added a wheel of emotes for players to perform. These were more like poses, which let you strike a specific action for a photo or something along those lines. As one example, Warrior Priest Victor Saltzpyre would look up into the sky with his arms in the air, praying to Sigmar to bless his ravaged body. You also had someone like Kerillian, who would kneel down and search for the tracks of her next prey (which more often than not is a thousand rats).

That isn’t to say that this will 100% be what comes into Darktide should emotes ever be added. This is merely what the team has done in the past, and we want to set your expectations right before being disappointed. Maybe they will add classic real-life dances, though it wouldn’t exactly fit 40K’s style. You can’t ignore that it would be silly, at least for the first while.
