How to Get Eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Both eggs are technically edible but eating one of them is a crime against god

You can go your whole journey without ever breeding a single Pokemon. After all, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are rife with Pokemon of all levels, and surely you’ll find something you like out there in the wild lands. But if you want to breed your Pokemon, perhaps because you’re shiny hunting your starter or you want a Pokemon to pass down its nature and refuse to buy the plant that does it, you might be wondering how to obtain Pokemon Eggs.

After all, there are no daycares between Mesagoza and Montenevera. So, what gives? How can you get a little Pokemon clone of your very own in Gen 9?

How to Get Eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The answer lies in the new mechanic introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You’ll need to set up a picnic on a flat piece of ground outside of a city. Once that’s done, you’ll bring out all the Pokemon in your party, plus your Legendary motorcycle Pokemon.

If there are two Pokemon capable of breeding (they share the same egg group), then after a period they’ll begin to breed. Once they do, their egg will appear in the basket. 10 eggs can sit nestled in the basket at one time, so you’ll want to periodically check and empty it out.

As for how long it can take for even one egg to show up, that varies. Occasionally it can take quite a while. In order to help with this process, you can create your own sandwich that will boost your egg power or head into the city and visit a café or restaurant that offers Egg Power levels. Even 1 level will greatly accelerate the process.

And that’s how you get a Pokemon egg!

Or did you come here because you were looking for where to buy eggs for your sandwiches? If that’s the case, head to your nearest city and go straight to Deli Cioso. This shop has you covered on a variety of sandwich fillings and condiments.

Happy snacking(?? Don’t eat Pokemon eggs), trainer!
