Yes, Overwatch 2 was always planned to have a story mode. Since its reveal back at Blizzcon 2019, the developers stated that Overwatch 2 has both the multiplayer you know and love and a fully-fledged story mode you can play with friends. Throughout development, as Overwatch 2 went through some quiet periods, the team decided to separate the two experiences and release the multiplayer first, while the story mode will launch sometime in 2023.

While we have seen very little of the actual single-player experience, we’re bound to get more information now that the Overwatch 2 early access multiplayer is in full swing.

We look forward to seeing more about the story mode for Overwatch 2 in due time, but for now, we don’t have much to work on, and it’s still expected to release sometime in 2023.
