Massive multiplayer online games offer that unrepeatable experience of playing with friends. Final Fantasy XIV is no different as you can go raiding, farm mounts, and crawl dungeons, but also simply sit and drink tea with your friends. The MMORPG also has Data Centers which are home to several servers which, previously, you could not travel between. But that’s changed.
As of the 6.18 patch, FFXIV players can experience travel through the Data Center system. Here’s how to do it.

What is Data Center Travel System in FF14?
Data Center Travel is a new option in Final Fantasy XIV, and it offers the possibility to travel across different data centers.
How to Data Center Travel in FFXIV?
Traveling across data centers is quite easy and achievable. Follow the steps below to learn how to do so:
- Choose the character you want to log in with from the ‘Character Selection’ menu.
- Now, click on the submenu and click the ‘Visit Another Data Center’ option.
- You need to select which Data Center and World you want to travel to.
Proceed with the action and wait for your character to land at the different Data Center. Note that it will take some time for your player to reach the desired landmark due to server congestion.
Unfortunately, another negative thing is that players are only allowed travel between the Data Centers within their region, as explained below.
The nine Data Centers of FFXIV are divided into four regional sections: Europe, Japan, Oceania, and North America. The Oceania region only has one active Data Center, meaning that the players from here sadly cannot use the system yet.
Also, Data Center travel works similar to world travel as you won’t have access to things like FC buffs or your retainers.
When you take it all into consideration, is Data Center travel really worth it? That’s up to you.
