Best Ways to Farm Iron in Animal Crossing New Horizons

First up, you’ll want to locate all of the rocks on your island. Each island has six total rocks which can be hit with a shovel or axe eight times. This means you have a chance of getting eight iron from each of these rocks around your island. However, there is a trick to farming this material.

Using a shovel, dig two holes behind your character before hitting the rock. Every time you smack that sucker your character will move slightly backward. After a few hits, you’ll actually miss your next swing and, in turn, miss out on extra material.

This is important because once you swing the first time on a rock, it has a small timer going so you need to smash them fast. The holes behind the character will prevent you from moving backward and let you harvest all of the wonderful iron out of them.

After you’ve gone through all of the rocks on your island, the next step is to spend 2,000 Nook Miles on a Nook Miles Ticket, which allows you to travel to various mystery islands. Just head on over to the airport at the dock and start flying.

Each island is vastly different and can have any number of rocks, but this is by far the best way to continue getting iron for your crafting needs. If your pockets become full, be sure to head back to your house and deposit the iron in storage so you can keep going out on trips.
