• Beautiful Island Ordinance: Villagers help with weeding, watering flowers, and clearing trash from the waters.
• Early Bird Ordinance: Villagers more active in the morning, businesses open earlier. 
• Night Owl Ordinance: Villagers stay up later, businesses extend their hours. 
• Bell Boom Ordinance: The cost of island goods increases, but so does the amount you earn from selling goods. 

Ordinances are a way to change the way certain things are handled on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For example, Ordinances can be used to have your villagers help out with weeding on your island. 

To enact Ordinances, you’ll first need to pay a visit to Isabelle at the Resident Services Center. When speaking to Isabelle, you’ll then want to select “review island features” and then “discuss Ordinances” to enact one. 

It’ll cost you 20,000 Bells to enact an Ordinance, so be sure you really want to enact one of these Ordinances. There’s no real downside to any of the Ordinances with the exception of Bell Boom as the cost of items bought on the island increases with these Ordinances. 

Of course, the items you sell will then sell for more, so it balances out. In the list above, we’ve listed all Ordinances and what they’re used for in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

If you want to get rid of an Ordinance, you’ll repeat the process for enacting an Ordinance by visiting Isabelle, discussing Ordinances, and choosing to end whatever Ordinance you no longer want.
