While the PS4 audience has already had a bunch of time with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta, this weekend other players get to join in. Starting on October 15, both Xbox and PC players will get their early access period, before the open beta picks up on October 17. Naturally with consoles you don’t need to worry about much but hard drive space. But PC is a whole other ballgame.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta PC System Requirements

That’s why, this week, Treyarch released the official PC system requirements for this release. It’s important to keep in mind that these system requirements are specifically for the beta client, and it’s possible things can change for the final release. But in the meantime, we can share the minimum and recommended specs for he Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta on PC.

Here are the minimum specs, per the official Call of Duty website:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-Bit (1803 or later)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k or AMD equivalent
  • VIDEO: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB / GTX 1650 4GB or AMD Radeon HD 7950.
  • RAM: 8GB RAM
  • HDD: 45GB HD space
  • NETWORK: Broadband Internet connection
  • SOUND CARD: DirectX Compatible – Requires DirectX 12 compatible system

And here are the recommended specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k or AMD equivalent
  • VIDEO: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB / GTX 1650 4GB or AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • RAM: 8GB RAM
  • HDD: 45GB HD space
  • NETWORK: Broadband Internet connection
  • SOUND CARD: DirectX Compatible – Requires DirectX 12 compatible system

These specs aren’t as robust as some other recent PC system requirements, so it seems like while all the next-gen dust settles, there won’t be much of a common format here. But Call of Duty games are also usually less intensive than other big games in terms of fidelity and horsepower, so that could be a factor as well.

COVID-19 killed a lot of the usual Call of Duty hype cycle, and everyone’s been doing the best they can since. So while it certainly took longer than usual to get the details and gameplay access for Cold War, the plus side is the wait between the beta and launch is pretty short! You’ll be able to play Black Ops Cold War and be horrified by a photorealistic 3D Ronald Regan model on November 13, 2020.
