After a stretch of re-running some older seasonal events, Capcom is getting ready to launch a new one in October. It’s called the Fun Fright Fest, and it’ll be the first Halloween celebration in Monster Hunter World since the Iceborne expansion released. As with the other limited-time seasonal events, Fun Fright Fest will comprise themed armor unlocks, as well as some festive decorations in the game’s hub. We don’t have all the nitty-gritty yet, but for now here’s what to expect.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Fun Fright Fest Guide: Date, Unlocks, and More

Fun Fright Fest will kick off in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on October 16, 2020. This will be the first event to follow the next Title Update, which rolls out on October 1. This is a tremendous update, if only because the immensely intimidating and powerful Fatalis is coming to the game. Players have been acknowledging their inevitable losses to this absolute unit since it was announced.

During the Fun Fright Fest, the Iceborne Gathering Hub will be decked out to the max in spooky paraphernalia. In addition to that, the Handler will also be dressed up in a special costume, the Cute Demoness outfit. As is usually the case, she’ll eventually drop the costume but it will show up later as paid DLC. As a player you’ll be able to earn the Demonlord Alpha+ armor set, as well as a Layered version to transmog the armor sets you actually want to wear. The Palico will also see an unlockable costume that closely resembles Frankenstein’s Monster.

To get the new looks, you’ll be collecting Fun Fright Tickets for finishing various activities. Going on the event-specific hunt missions will net you tickets, as well as other items if there are additional cosmetic goodies to be revealed closer to the event. You’ll also get tickets as a daily login bonus, and going by precedent, tickets from the previous year’s event as well. That way if you missed the earlier goodies you’ll have a chance to fill those holes in your collection.

The fifth Title Update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will be the final major update for the game, so we may be able to consider Fatalis the “final boss.” And well, Fatalis is definitely a giant, scary dinosaur demon-thing that is worthy of that title.

Are you excited for the Halloween festival time to return to Monster Hunter World? How about that armor set that basically looks like Dracula from 90s-era Castlevania?
