Looking for a new way to enjoy League of Legends? Why not a board game? Riot Games shook things up quite a bit starting last year with new games, spins off of their hit MOBA League of Legends, and even more surprises still awaiting in the sidelines. When not working on Valorant or Teamfight Tactics, Riot has been working on an official League of Legends board game, an experience that has just been revealed.
Riot revealed the new segway into the world of tabletop with a new trailer showing off the Tellstones: King’s Gambit board game experience. This adventure is rooted in the League-verse and will be a tile game that allows 2-4 players to truly compete it out with other players with some good ‘ol psychological warfare.
“Can you play like a champion,” challenges the video’s official description. Tellstones, according to Riot, is “the unforgettable game of bluffing, strategy, and recollection from the world of Runeterra. To win, you’ll need to focus on playing the player, not the game.”

We don’t have a release date yet for when this forrey into tabletop will become available, but it’s an interesting concept that still honors the core of League of Legends. While there are objectives in League, mostly gameplay consisting of countering other player attacks, effectively making it very player-centric versus objective-focused. Tellstones looks to continue on that style much more directly, and we’re excited to see where this leads for Riot and the world of tabletop.
