While it is expected to see Far Cry 6 officially during the upcoming Ubisoft Forward presentation on July 12, all we’ve had up until this point have been vague rumors and speculations. One of those rumors was that the next iteration of Far Cry would serve as a prequel to the third game and would feature the makings of the eventual villain Vaas. A new Far Cry 6 leak might just confirm that theory.
Earlier last week, a leak seemed to confirm that Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) would be taking on the role of the newest villain and the newest poster to leak shows him grooming a small boy, a boy that has the same expression and scar over his eyebrow that Vaas had. The leak was spotted over on the PlayStation Hong Kong score and not only shared our first look at the first wave of promotional material, but also a release date as well:

The below response shows the English version that invites players to the tropical paradise of Yara. “As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.”
The description also confirms offline single-player, online multiplayer, in-game purchases, and a release date set for February 18, 2021.
The latest leak sparked interest in those older rumors regarding an origins story for Vaas and upon closer inspection (ie the mouth, the scar, the expression), it looks very much like young Diego could be Vaas mid-transformation:
Looks like those Far Cry 3 prequel rumors could be true, that certainly looks like a baby Vaas to me. https://t.co/JxebyRot1u

So. Is Diego in Far Cry 6 meant to be a young Vaas from Far Cry 3? pic.twitter.com/4trOhRtEhy

Will we be learning more about this during this weekend’s showcase? That’s the rumor and that’s what we are hoping, but the 2021 release date has us a little worried that might not happen. We will see here soon because that show kicks off on July 12 starting at 11 AM ET.
