Apex Legends Season 5 Pathfinder Nerf

The first four seasons of the Battle Royale game saw Pathfinder be one of the game’s most powerful characters thanks to his grappling ability. This grappling ability allowed the character to rush enemies like no other character could or escape dangerous situations very quickly, making the robot very frustrating to face. Respawn Entertainment went on to apply a major nerf to the grappling ability of Pathfinder with the arrival of Season 5 to lessen the overpowered nature of the robot being able to use its grappling hook multiple times in a fight.

This Pathfinder Season 5 nerf consisted of the cooldown for the legend’s grappling hook increasing from 15 seconds to 35 seconds. Now, players will have to wait an extra 20 seconds after using the grappling hook before they can use it once again.

According to Respawn Entertainment, this Season 5 nerf for Pathfinder was implemented because “being able to use Pathfinder’s Grappling Hook multiple times in a fight is both too powerful and muddies combat legibility.” There is no doubt that Pathfinder’s ability to take over a fight in matches will now be significantly diminished when compared to the character’s prowess in the past four seasons.

Mains of this character will now not be able to rely on the grappling hook multiple times in combat situations to give them an advantage or get themselves out of sticky situations. Aggressive players will now have a much harder time playing like they used, considering that they will have to wait an extra 20 seconds to escape if their push was unsuccessful.
