If the Valentione’s Day celebrations in Final Fantasy XIV aren’t really your speed, then don’t worry. There’s still plenty to do while we’re waiting to crack into the meat of Patch 5.2, so why not turn to fleshing out your existing mount collection? We’re talking about picking up something like the FFXIV Direwolf mount as long as you can find it within your heart to make good with the Ixali.
FFXIV Direwolf Mount Guide – Final Fantasy XIV Ixali Beast Tribe
As you may have already gathered, the FFXIV Direwolf mount is a reputation mount gained from ranking up with one of the beast tribes of Eorzea in particular – the Ixali. There are plenty of other reputation mounts available if you engage with the beast tribes, like the Cavalry Drake mount (and we have a guide on how to get that which we’ve relinked here for your benefit).
However, it’s the Direwolf that we’re really concerned with. To actually be able to get the Direwolf mount, you’re going to have fulfilled the following criteria:
- Reached Sworn reputation with the Ixal
- Have 120,000 gil to purchase the Direwolf
The Ixal have been around for ages, though Sworn is the absolute maximum rank available when it comes to beast tribe reputations. Other mounts for various factions might only require Trusted level reputation, but to get the Direwolf whistle will require you to have basically made yourself one of them. Others may have merely been raised in the Ixal ways. You have to have been born in them, and molded by them, or however that saying goes.
To start your long journey to get on the good side of the Ixal, you have to have completed the main scenario quest In Pursuit of the Past and have spoken to Scarlet in New Gridania to pick pick up the quest introducing you to the Ixal Tribe – A Bad Bladder. From there on, it’s a matter of completing that introductory questline and then doing the dailies and repeatables after that until your rep is high enough.
Now that you have our FFXIV Direwolf mount guide in hand, it should be pretty easy to figure out how to suck up to the Ixali to get the whistle that you’re looking for.
