E3 is less than 10 days away and while CD Projekt RED has confirmed they’ve got even more to show off at this year’s celebration for Cyberpunk 2077, that doesn’t mean the game is ready to launch. With so many rumors floating around, it looks like the one about a possible 2019 release date is DOA.
Kotaku’s Jason Schreier got a little cheeky when it came to a Reddit thread about the Cyberpunk 2077 teaming “aiming” for a 2019 release, but that they weren’t optimistic that this timeframe was doable. When one Twitter user responded that it was indeed coming in 2019, he responded:
Idk where you saw that rumor but Cyberpunk is absolutely not coming out this year

This has gotten a lot of Reddit attention so some clarity: I’ve heard from three sources that Cyberpunk was aiming for 2019, but belief around the studio was that it was an unrealistic target. I expect first half 2020 or maybe even an E3 announcement of 2019, then a delay to 2020 https://t.co/8QsOatEFfJ

In a day and age where it seems like more and more studios are hit hard with crunch and pushing games out before they are ready, we don’t mind CD Projekt RED taking all of the time they need to allow their newest IP to debut without a hitch.
We don’t have a release date yet for the upcoming title, though a release window is expected during their confirmed presentation at E3. Though we don’t have an official release date at this time outside of leaks, we do at least know a little more about the game and its main character:
“Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future — Night City. You play as V, a hired gun on the rise, who just got their first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.
