The rogue Battlefield games under the Bad Company name were a huge hit with a lot of gamers for its interesting derailment of the mainstay Battlefield series. The sub-franchise that dropped a squad of renegade soldiers into a quest for revenge looks to be making a huge new comeback according to latest rumors, though only for the PlayStation 5 and next Xbox.
The rumor comes from a European dev that posted an anoymous listing over on Pastebin. It’s the same source that alleges Grand Theft Auto 6 will be dropping next year as well, though the developer was careful not to reveal who they are. Because of this, take the latest in the rumor mill with a grain of salt until the studio behind the Bad Company games make their own official announcement.
According to the rumor, Battlefield: Bad Company 3 will be a PlayStation 5 launch title, a release window that they mentioned was set in 2020. Huge, if true, but unfortunately the leaker did very little to back up their claims other than a promise that they themselves are a dev. Since it’s anon, the claim in profession has little weight behind it.
This isn’t the first time the future of the Bad Company series making a return has been rumored, though DICE themselves have not shown any real interest in continuing on that particular journey. We know that there will absolutely be a new Battlefield on the horizon since it’s set in an annual release schedule, but other than speculation and this masked report, there’s nothing from DICE themselves that seems to support this. Doesn’t mean it’s not happening, but it is important to place this firmly in the “rumor” pile while we await confirmation.
