How to Upgrade Weapons

The ability to craft upgrades for your weapons becomes available a few hours into the game. Before you can upgrade anything in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’ll need to make sure you have enough resources available, such as salvage, wood, animal hides, and other materials that can be obtained through exploration. Be sure to thoroughly loot each location you visit and use Survival Instinct to highlight resources in your surroundings to ensure you always have crafting materials available when you need them. Aside from weapons, you’ll also need to have crafting resources available if you’re looking to restore various outfits as well.

To upgrade weapons in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you must visit one of your available Base Camp locations and open the Inventory category. In the Weapons menu, find the weapon that has upgrades available and select the arrow icon to open the Upgrade menu.

In the Upgrade menu, select one of the available upgrades on the left side to view its description and crafting costs, which will be listed on the right. If you have the required crafting resources, select Craft to create and apply the upgrade to your weapon. Upgrades are automatically applied once they are crafted.

There are four upgrade levels total for each weapon attribute, though there may not be an upgrade at every level for a particular weapon. New upgrades are unlocked upon crafting its previous tier, so be sure to check your available upgrades regularly to keep your weapons in top shape. You will also need to unlock the Raposa’s Wit skill if you want to fully upgrade your weapons to the highest level.
