How to Fix Opening Journal Error

If you’re running into this error and your game keeps getting stuck on Opening Journal, then you’re probably about ready to uninstall the game and just move on to something else. Don’t do that just yet, though, as this error should actually be a pretty simple fix.

It looks like players are running into this error due to an issue with their default language and region choice. Because of this, Microsoft suggests making sure that your region and language are set correctly.

If you keep getting stuck on Opening Journal when launching Sea of Thieves, then try opening op your settings by pressing Windows + I.

From here select Time and Language.

This should open another group of options. Here you’ll want to navigate down to and choose Region and Language.

One in the Region and Language settings, change your default language and region to US + English (US). After this is done, save the settings and then reboot your PC.

According to Microsoft, this should resolve any issues you have with your game getting stuck on Opening Journal. If you’re still having issues, though, make sure you head to the official Sea of Thieves website and log yourself a support ticket.
