Dark Souls: Remastered Coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4

From Software and Bandai Namco announced today that the original Dark Souls is making its way onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as Dark Souls: Remastered.

Featuring increased framerates, higher resolutions textures, and even the 4K support on the Xbox One X, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PC. This news also comes alongside the announcement that Dark Souls is finally coming to Nintendo Switch, which was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct.

All versions of the Remastered game will become available on May 25 of this year, and will include access to the Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content. According to Bandai Namco and From Software, the game will also include an increase in the maximum amount of players that can be active in one sessions, bringing it up to a max of six players.

If you’re interested in picking up Dark Souls: Remastered for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, or Nintendo Switch, then here is what you can expect out of each version of the game.

  • Xbox One – 1080P at 60FPS
  • PlayStation 4 – 1080P at 60FPS
  • Xbox One X – Upscaled 4K at 60 FPS
  • PlayStation 4 Pro – Upscaled 4K at 60FPS
  • PC – Native 4K, all textures unconverted to 2K, running at 60FPS
  • Nintendo Switch – 1080P at 30FPS in TV Mode, 720P at 30FPS in Handheld mode.

As you can see, the FPS and resolutions offered for the game have changed quite a bit since Dark Souls’ original release in 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. If you’re a fan of the Dark Souls series, the news of a Remaster is definitely good news. But, if you’ve never had the chance to get into the Dark Souls games, the release of Dark Souls: Remastered gives you the perfect reason to go back and give this hardcore RPG series a try.
