Now we almost know what he’s talking about

We’re being given a treat as Metal Gear Solid creator’s Japanese blog is being fully translated into English week by week as time goes by.

This new feature saves us from having to rely on unofficial translations; fantastic news. Currently, the blog is a little behind, but we imagine it should catch up in due course.

There’s also been news on the press response to MGS4 and the development of MGS3: Subsistence. Kojima explained that he still hasn’t made a decision on whether he wants to have the traditional or newer 3D, over-the-shoulder camera we saw in MGS3: Subsistence.

The first entry of the blog has interesting bits of MGS trivia, including word on how Starsailor ended up on the soundtrack, and discussions on how Kojima was inspired by Dawn of the Dead’s use of elevators.

Kojima, being the eccentric philosopher he is, has a tendency to reflect this in his online musings:

“If our children today don’t have any dreams, we creators are guilty for not giving them dreams. We are culpable. We must create a dream to leave behind for the sake of our children,” writes Kojima.

The blog also explains Kojima’s intentions to keep making games as he grows older; “I enjoy creating games. I want to hang on to the creative experience. I only have to prove that I have the willpower to do so. The image of Grandpa Snake is a reflection of the determination of this middle-aged man.”

Do take a look at the blog, it’s jam-packed with goodness.
