Clash of Clans introduces its fifth hero, the Minion Prince, just before the Christmas holidays in 2024. The Minion Prince is a flying-ranged hero with slightly stronger stats than the Archer Queen. However, the Minion Prince being capable of flying makes a world of difference, and he can change the tide of battle depending on how you play him. Here’s everything you need to know about the Minion Prince and how to unlock him in Clash of Clans.

How to Get the Minion Prince in Clash of Clans

The Minion Prince actually unlocks pretty early. You can unlock him by upgrading the Hero Hall to level 3 at Town Hall level 9. However, for players who have Town Halls past level 9, you’ll actually get the Minion Prince instantly, as long as you build and place your Hero Hall.

Once you have your Hero Hall, you’ll instantly unlock the Minion Prince. It also doesn’t start at level 1 for most players. Players who have a higher Town Hall level will get the Minion Prince’s level according to the previous Town Hall level. For example, if you are at TH14, you’ll get a Hero Hall instantly at level 7, and your Minion Prince will start at level 40, which is the maximum level at TH13.

It is nice that you don’t have to level up the Minion Prince from 1, especially if you are playing at a higher Town Hall level already.

In short, as long as you are past Town Hall 9, you just need to place the Hero Hall and you’ll unlock the Minion Prince with a level tied to your Town Hall level. If you are at Town Hall 9 or below, you’ll need to reach TH9 and upgrade the Hero Hall to level 3 to get the Minion Prince.

It is also worth noting that this is the 5th hero release, but it is still the 3rd earliest hero in the game, as it is acquired after the Archer Queen and before the Grand Warden. Since there are a total of five heroes now, can you use them all in battle simultaneously?

The answer is no, but it is also a good thing. Since you are limited to a maximum number of four hero slots, you can always have one hero upgrading and still use four heroes. Overall, this is one of the best additions to the game, as players will finally be able to level up heroes without weakening themselves for wars.

The Best Minion Prince Equipment and How to Use Him in Clash of Clans

The Minion Prince has two options in terms of equipment: the Dark Orb and the Henchmen Puppet. The Henchmen Puppet is a simple ability that gives the Minion Prince some extra health and it spawns Minion Puppets or the Henchmen to tank some of the damage. The puppets have low to decent damage, but are way sturdier than Super Minions, which makes it a great ability to redirect some annoying Air Defenses.

However, the Minion Prince’s signature equipment is undoubtedly the Dark Orb. The Dark Orb is a launchable projectile, shooting straight out of the Minion Prince and slowing everything nearby. It has a wide radius and does a little damage to everything. The game-changing effect comes from the slowing down effect, as it lowers speed by 50%.

Think of how the Archer Queen’s Frozen Arrow works, but it somehow targets everything in the path. That’s how strong the Dark Orb is.

You want to use the Dark Orb when you are about to enter the core of the defenses so you can get the maximum value from it. This means that the Minion Prince will always love to be with the main army; since most of the strategies involve having a main army, you can funnel deeper into the defensive core or the Town Hall.

The equipment is instantly available, but you still have to upgrade both of them, since they start at level 1 regardless of your Town Hall level.
