Fuel and Food are two of the most important resources early on in Manor Lords to meet the needs of your families and workplaces. Gathering fuel can feel a bit intimidating, especially because of the rising demands, but it’s not that difficult once you set up a few key buildings, and store resources carefully for winter and incoming families. Here is how you can get fuel in Manor Lords and maintain a steady supply so you never run out.
How to Get Fuel in Manor Lords
Fuel in Manor Lords is used to keep your population warm throughout the year and run a variety of workplaces in your village and city. It comes in the following forms:
During winter, your population will burn fuel twice as fast, so stockpiling fuel is necessary for survival and approval.
Gathering Firewood in Manor Lords
To gather Firewood, players must build a Woodcutter’s Lodge and assign up to three families. The Woodcutter’s Lodge costs 1 Timber to build, and assigned workers will chop down nearby trees and convert logs into firewood.
While the Woodcutter’s Lodge has a generic storage of 50, we recommend moving the stock to a Storehouse, or preferably a Large Storehouse that has a much higher store capacity of 2500.
For fast collection and storage, build the storehouse someplace near the Woodcutter’s Lodge if possible.
Gathering Coal in Manor Lords
Coal is the second most efficient fuel resource. You can’t collect coal outright and need to unlock the “Charcoal Burning” development, which allows players to build Charcoal Kilns.
Once unlocked, players can build a Charcoal Kiln for 2 Timbers, which allows workers to refine 1 Firewood resource into 2 Charcoal. We highly recommend building Kilns near the Woodcutter’s Lodge so workers can easily move Firewood to the Kilns and save time.
Similarly, once Firewood is refined into Coal, workers can transport those to the Storehouse or Large Storehouse.
Maintaining and Optimizing Fuel Supply
To maintain a steady supply of fuel, we recommend constructing the Woodcutter’s Lodge, Charcoal Kiln, and Storehouse close to each other. This will reduce the travel time between each building, and ensure you have a healthy stock that can be distributed to the marketplace efficiently.
Even if you assign a single family to each building, that’s more than enough during the early hours of your run. However, since trees are a limited resource, you can build a Forester’s Hut to ensure that workers continue planting more trees to generate a healthy supply of wood and reforest an area.
It takes a long while for the trees to grow, so it’s something you want to initiate and forget about for a while.
How to Monitor Fuel Needs and Stock in Manor Lords
To check how much fuel you currently have, can click on the bonfire icon. This will list down the exact amount of Firewood and Coal currently stored in buildings.
To check how long your current fuel and food stock will last in terms of months, click on the Barrel icon on the left.
Another thing to keep in mind is that both resources still count as one resource of fuel. So if you have 50 firewood and 50 coal, that’s a total of 100 fuel. Each Burgage Plot consumes 1 Fuel per month and 2 Fuel per month during winter.
That’s all there is to fuel in Manor Lords. While initially intimidating, managing and maintaining a steady supply of both firewood and coal isn’t too difficult, especially if you place the buildings close to each other. There is no reason why you would accidentally overuse fuel, either, especially if you have a healthy stock.
