How to Get Uchigatana Katana in Elden Ring

There are two ways to get the Uchigatana Katana in Elden Ring, and neither requires the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The first method is to pick the Samurai class at the start of the game. It will automatically give you one of the best katanas in the base game by default.

The second method is to loot it from a corpse in the Deathtouched Catacombs. The location can be found in the northern section of Stormhill, Limgrave. The small dungeon is fairly straightforward, though players will have to turn a lever to unlock a previously locked door. The weapon can then be found on a corpse hanging over the edge.

The best option for this build is to do both. Pick the Samurai class to get the first one, then grab the second one from Deathtouched Catacombs later. You get a head start on the Dexterity stat and can dual-wield Uchigatanas for maximum blood loss.

The Uchigatana only requires 15 Dexterity and 11 Strength, but Arcane is also important in the build to increase the amount of blood loss between the weapons and skill. Here is the full Uchigatana build:

  • Uchigatana with Ash of War: Bloody Slash – Right Hand Armament
  • Uchigatana – Left Hand Armament
  • White Mask helm
  • Any Armor, Gauntlets, and Greaves that you’re comfortable with
  • Lord of Blood’s Exultation
  • Millicent’s Prosthesis
  • Rotten Winged Sword Insignia
  • Shard of Alexander
  • Flask of Wondrous Physick
    • Glovewort Crystal Tear (Requires Shadow of the Erdtree DLC)
    • Thorny Cracked Tear
  • Mimic Tear Ashes

We are building for maximum blood loss and increased attack power with every piece here. The White Mask and Lord of Blood’s Exultation increase blood loss with the Uchigatana’s initial status, while the Millicent’s Prosthesis and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia increase attack power after multiple hits.

The Mimic Tear Ash creates a clone of yourself with the exact build, so you can have two people causing blood loss at the same time. The Bloody Slash Ash of War can cause huge damage when paired with the Shard of Alexander, and even your Mimic can use it. Some may say using the Mimic is cheap, but you should take every advantage you can get in both the base game and the much harder expansion.
