First up, Professor Layton will make his return to the Nintendo 3DS next year with an all-new puzzle adventure, one that features a cross-over with Capcom’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. The game releases sometime in 2014, and we’ll have more information soon.

A new character was also announced for Super Smash Bros., and it’s none other than Luigi. Mario’s sibling will put up quite a fight when the game arrives for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U next year.

Sega showed off some new features for Sonic: Lost World. You’ll be able to set up radio-controlled gadgets in the 3DS version of the game, and then send them over to the Wii U version for the cooperative multiplayer mode. These help players destroy enemies while also collecting special items. Both games debut later this year.

Aspiring artists will be happy to hear that Art Academy: SketchPad will soon be available for the Wii U, allowing them to use their GamePads to draw wondrous new creations and share them with the MiiVerse. It releases later this week on August 9th. There’s no word on pricing yet.

Virtual Console fans will get some love on their systems, as Super Mario Bros. 3 returns on both Wii U and 3DS sometime later this year.  The super-rare Famicom game Summer Carnival ’92 RECCA will also come to the 3DS, though a date hasn’t been specified.

Finally, The Wonderful 101, which comes out on September 15th, will receive its own Nintendo Direct special. It’ll air on August 9th at 7 AM PDT, and we’ll have a full recap once it’s over. You can view it at Nintendo’s website.
